Julian’s journey

Because Julian, from Germany, had holidays in Israel, he was in Israel before the others planned to arrived, so he already experienced how living in Israel was, while the Hamas attacked with missilesnäm. Basically he recognized two perspectives: one was the perspective of living in Israel and the other was the perspectives of the media. So he had a hard time deciding whether to stay in Israel or not and if he could recommend to the others to come also. Finally after a calculation of the risks, he decided to do both.

South african’s journey

Our journey in Israel began when Amen came top pick us up after our arrival. He took us to Amiram’s house where we were received by Gina, Tilda, Dor and Lovis (dog).

We introduced each other and had a light conversation over lunch. Amiram told us about the organisation he is running and how it was close to the families’ heart- especially because it has to do with the passing away of their son over the conflict experienced. After a while the South African group had to take their rest from the long flight.

Some hours after that we got up feeling much better, we took a shower and got ready to meet the rest of the group from Israel and Germany in the evening for dinner. We were so excited and delighted to meet our soon-to-be Rainbow Family. We introduced each other and got to chat a bit over dinner. Later on the youth from Israel and South Africa stayed behind at the youth centre for the night as the older group went to their hosts.

The youth team got along very well as the night grew. A lot of our sleeping time was successfully used to build the team and getting to know each other even more during songs, games and some activities that got the team interacting together. It was a wonderful time.
